Auckland to Delhi Flights: A Simple Guide for Families

Auckland to Delhi Flights A Simple Guide for Families

Everything you need to plan the trip home, from routes and timing to packing the kids’ snacks.

Quick answer

Auckland to Delhi flights usually include one stop, so expect a full day of travel or more. Delhi’s airport is Indira Gandhi International (DEL). Our homepage showed fares from NZD 920 per person one way, checked 18 Oct 2026. Prices change daily. Book early for the December school break, check your visa and passports first, and ask us about seats for the whole family.

Going to Delhi is often about family. A wedding, a festival, a grandparent you have not seen in a while. We know that feeling. This guide keeps things simple, so you can plan with a calm head.

How Auckland to Delhi flights work

Most Auckland to Delhi flights stop somewhere on the way. The stop is often in Asia or the Middle East, and it depends on the airline. Some routes are quicker than others. A shorter stop can save time. A longer stop can give young children a rest.

You can also fly to Delhi from other New Zealand cities. Here is a quick view of what we can arrange.

Delhi is also a good starting point for onward travel. Many families continue by train or a domestic flight to Punjab, Rajasthan or Uttar Pradesh. If your final stop is somewhere else, tell us. We can look at the whole journey.

How long will the journey take?

Plan on a full day of travel, and sometimes more. The exact time depends on the airline, the stop city and how long you wait between flights. Your itinerary shows the real times, so read it carefully before you pay.

There is also a time change. During New Zealand daylight saving, which runs from late September to early April, Delhi is 7 and a half hours behind Auckland. Outside daylight saving it is 6 and a half hours behind. Jet lag can still catch children out. A quiet first day helps.

If you are leaving from Queenstown, Christchurch or Wellington, you may have a domestic leg first. Leave plenty of time between flights, and ask whether your bags can be checked through to Delhi.

Fares and when to book

Fares change every day. They depend on dates, airline, stops and how many seats are left. We cannot promise any price. What we can do is show you what was on our homepage when we checked.

Some things that usually matter most:

  • School holidays. The NZ summer break starts in mid-December. Seats on popular dates fill early.
  • Festival and wedding season. Many families travel between November and February. Our guide to flying to an Indian wedding from New Zealand has more on this.
  • Group size. Four or more seats together are harder to find late.
  • Baggage. Allowances differ by airline. Check before you pack gifts.

Studying or teaching in New Zealand? Mann Travel offer gives verified students, teachers, lecturers and education staff $25 off selected return flights between NZ and India. It is valid for 30 days, can be renewed, and cannot be combined with other offers.

If you want to spread the cost, we offer flexible payment options such as PayLite and Afterpay. Ask our team how it works for your booking.

Family and practical tips for the trip

A long journey is easier when the small things are sorted early. These are the tips we share most often.

  1. Check passports first. Look at the expiry dates for every traveller, including children. Many countries want months of validity left.
  2. Sort your visa early. Most visitors need an Indian visa. Use the official site, indianvisaonline.gov.in, and read the current rules. OCI card holders have different requirements.
  3. Pick seats together. Tell us about children and grandparents when you book. We will ask the airline about seating.
  4. Allow a longer stop for little ones. A tight connection is stressful with a toddler. A longer one gives time to eat and stretch.
  5. Pack a carry-on kit. Snacks, a change of clothes, medicines, chargers and one favourite toy.
  6. Check health and safety advice. Talk to your doctor or travel clinic before you go. Read the official advice at safetravel.govt.nz too.
  7. Keep copies of your documents. Tickets, passports and insurance, on your phone and on paper.
  8. Buy travel insurance. It is worth having for a long family trip.

Travelling with elderly parents? Ask about wheelchair help or meal needs when you book. Do not leave it for the airport. And if you are travelling in a bigger group, call us. Group and family travel is something we do a lot.
